Exporter mislabeled tainted pet food ingredient
I feed my cats Purina One. The last time I checked, it was not one of the brands affected. And all my cats are thriving and as annoying as hell, just like they're supposed to be.
SHANGHAI, China - The exporter of a contaminated pet food ingredient blamed for the deaths of dogs and cats in the United States may have avoided Chinese export inspections by labeling it a nonfood product, a U.S. government report says.

When we checked all the different foods we feed our rugrats = we found one of the pouch foods on the list and 2 questionable pouches according to the list.
It was the food we gave to our 2 semi-feral cats = interestingly enough it is the food we hide their meds in = for instance if we have to give them any antibiotics we put it in their food - rather than get all scratched up trying to shove it down their throats.
But now it has been found in food fed to pigs, chickens, and fish....
I fear we have all ingested some of this stuff by proxy....
This is obviously a sign to stay away from things Chinese. I haven't found the article, but it seems several people in Panama (I think) have died from some kind of contamination in drugs where some ingredient was imported from China. One of the ladies at work mentioned it today along with the contaminated fish.
